NATURAL RUBBER
Mills Ormiston Rubber Pty Ltd, MOR Industries, works with Natural Rubber (NR) which is a naturally occurring material and the most widely used material for a diverse range of applications.

Latex derived from the rubber tree is coagulated to produce the material. The properties of natural rubber include high elasticity, high tensile strength and high abrasion resistance. The rubber is not resistant to aging and oil. It is for these reasons that Natural Rubber is rarely used as a seal in technical applications, but is mixed with other elastomers like EPDM to improve rubber properties.

In addition to being very tear and abrasion resistant, natural rubber is excellent at resisting acids, providing electrical insulation, and resisting alcohol well. Furthermore natural rubber is good for be in contact with ketones and aldehydes, it is resistant to some moderate chemicals too. However, ozone and sunlight exposure, petroleum derivatives, hydraulic fluids, vegetable oils, greases, and some hydrocarbons are not recommended for natural rubber.

Some of the Properties of Natural Rubber are:

-
Wide hardness range
-
Very high resilience
-
High mechanical properties
-
Good compression set
-
Very high resistance to abrasion
-
Temperature range is -55°C to 90°C
-
Good resistance to inorganic chemicals
-
Extrusion and Moulding compounds
